Wellness Benefits of Vitamins to the Human Body
Blood pressure can be controlled with the use of vitamin C. As the knowledge of how vitamin C effects the body came, the desire to delve deeper into the real changes which could be effected due to vitamin C were more closely studied. This included a double blind study done by British researchers. This study included 40 men and women. Half received 500 milligrams of vitamin C a day, while the other were given a placebo.
But in more recent years the use of vitamin C as a preventative for many health problems has been studied more closely. These studies not only have helped us to understand exactly what the benefits are when including vitamin C to a daily diet, but also how it works. Back in the day, sailors suffered from scurvy when they did not consume vitamin C. If scurvy becomes severe due to a lack of vitamin C, it can result in death.

This true not only for growing children, but especially true for adults who may be able to prevent some serious health issues in the future simply by increasing their daily allowance of vitamin C.
Heart health is closely associated with vitamin C. One of the focuses of these studies has been the cardiovascular system and what, if any, benefits occur by an increased intake of vitamin C. The results revealed that vitamin C has a massive effect on heart health. Most surprisingly when the daily recommended allowance was increased from 70-90 milligrams a day (for adults) to 250 milligrams.
Because of this, more and more people are paying attention to their body mass index along with the measurement of their waist. With this in mind, nutritionists at the University of Arizona developed a study to try and gauge the benefits of vitamin C in relation to BMI.
